Partly Facetious: The odd man out
"Chaudhry Nisar is reportedly not happy with his leadership claiming that he was sidelined and..."
"I thought the Ministry spokesperson has requested the media not to speculate on the matter."
"And that exhortation would stop people like you and me!"
"Well, no, that would simply make media personnel even more vociferous on the subject and surely Chaudhry sahib should be aware of that given his 30 plus year experience in politics."
"I am not sure, when last the PML-N was in power the media genie had not surfaced and the few independent newspapers that challenged the government's narrative could face punitive measures including unavailability of the imported newsprint, and no government advertisement support and..."
"Right, but if this report is true then Chaudhry sahib could have asked even someone like me as to why he was being sidelined in key decision making post Panama papers..."
"Are you being facetious?"
"No. Let me ask you five questions and if the answer is in the negative on any of them then I would stand corrected. First, was Chaudhry sahib ever an accountant or auditor in the Sharif family businesses? Was Chaudhry sahib ever involved in remitting money to the Sharif children studying in the UK? Is Chaudhry sahib related (by marriage) to the First Family? Fourth, is the First Family (or the Prime Minister's very special media cell) taking into confidence anyone but the Prime Minister, including some say their lawyers in the Panama case? And finally did he not say that if he ever found out that the First Family's wealth abroad was kind of unexplainable he would not support the party leadership?"
"What rubbish. I heard Chaudhry sahib advised the party not to take on the institutions and..."
"I refer you back to questions 1 to 5 above."
"Hmmmm."
